Ship shape

Our heritage art group, which is being delivered as part of our ongoing heritage project, took a little trip out yesterday.

We visited the Dumbarton Maritime Museum to explore our historical connection with the shipbuilding industry.

We seized the opportunity for some on-site sketching and explored how draftsmen created scaled drawings of ships. We observed their technique for crafting wax model hulls and the original model ship testing tank. It provided a fascinating look into historical maritime design practices.

Our heritage project, called ‘Looking to the future, Linking to the past’, is made possible by the National Lottery Players and we thank them for their support.
