Going for gold!

Here at Parklea Branching Out the sun was shining yet again for our mini Olympics, on Wednesday 14 August, and gold medals all round was the order of the day.

Participants in the World Walking steps challenge included clients, staff, and volunteers, whose combined steps totaled 1,705,478—sufficient to span the distance from Port Glasgow to Paris. This achievement was celebrated with our very own Olympic games.

Thanks to Lucinda and Jack, the team came together to give everyone, of all abilities, a great sports day in the Parklea playing fields.

There was javelin, shot put, mini races, archery, beat the goalie, basketball, an obstacle course and everyone’s favourite, wet sponge throwing, which saw people getting soaked.

Over 100 people came along and joined in, we were delighted to welcome lots of clients and their carers. Our great volunteers were on hand to help out with the sports and the catering. We couldn’t do it without them!

The day was made possible with some funding from the HSCP Health & Wellbeing Fund.

Everyone had a great time and we are already looking forward to 2025.
